Light Box Inspection Tool

Description

The Light Box is a tool to help with optical or other visual inspection. It provides a very dark background with side lamp illumination to allow scratches and digs on optical elements to be seen. It also provides a simple means to check cleanliness of your optics. The unit is portable and can be set up almost anywhere. There are tilt pedestals attached to the front cover so the unit can be tilted upward for ease of use. To use, open the front cover and set the unit on the underside of the cover. This tilts the unit upward. Now turn on the lamps, and you are ready to inspect your optics.

The side lamps are battery-powered LED lamps with diffusers attached. As of 7/19 the Light Box uses a new lamp assembly. It is provides higher irradiance than the previous lamp. Each of these new side lamps can still provide equivalent illumination to a 15W compact fluorescent lamp but this is now available in the low power setting of the lamp. The lamps can be tilted for positional adjustment. One or both lamps can be used for inspection. The Light Box inner area is ~14”W x 12”H x 10”deep. The inside coating is a ultra-flat black paint for low reflectance.
